My favorite adoption poem...I know it seems long but trust me, it's worth reading. It makes me cry every time I read it.
Sweet lil' one near my heart you rest
My joy, my life,my heavenly guest
Why so early do I feel such peace?
Never waiting and pleading for your gentle cry to cease
I hold you, I kiss you, I caress your sweet head
Cherishing these moments rather than longing for bed
Not once have I chosen my sleep over you
In these early hours my heart physically grew
I thanked Heavenly Father for feelings so pure
It was then that I realized
I rock you for her.
She, who so selflessly gave you a home
With a father and a mother who prayed that you'd come
She wants all things precious for your life to receive
As she continues to grow and has goals to achieve
Please understand why I hold you so tight
I pray love be with you each morning and night
My kisses, my soft words, sweet lullabies I purr
I promised
I'm honored
I rock you for her
She faithfully chose me to hold you so tight
To kiss you so softly
To teach you the right
I glory in sunshine free from the rain
While her arms lay empty
Aware of the pain
My role as your mother, her sister and friend
Memorizing your laughter and scent of your skin
Always be proud and strive to remember
Each time you feel loved and adored extra tender
Born of courage and strength, fulfilling God's grace
Remember my promise to always be sure
To love you
To kiss you
To rock you for her
A Little About Me
I have three brothers and am the second oldest. My dad was in the Air Force, so I grew up everywhere. When people ask me where I grew up, that's exactly what I tell them "everywhere". Every 4 years or so, we would move to a different state. I thought all families did that! There were many advantages to growing up this way. My brothers and I are all best friends; since we moved so much we were each others support system. I think I'm pretty lucky to have lived in so many cool places.
I grew up in a very gospel rich home. I was taught from a very young age to rely on the Lord and trust in Him. My parents always taught me that we are all equals in the sight of God, not to judge any one because we never know their circumstances and that love is unconditional. These are important lessons that I want my children to learn also.
I love to cook, bake yummy things and decorate cakes. I have never considered myself a very creative person, but decorating cakes is the one way I can express my creativity. I am the only person I know besides my Nana that reads cookbooks for fun. That sounds pretty nerdy but who doesn't love to eat yummy things! My family likes to tease me because even though I consider myself a pretty good cook, I can never get baked potatoes right. I either cook them too long or not long enough. Who would have thought something so simple would be so hard for me! I love to read, exercise, spend time in the mountains, go four-wheeling, play board games, garden (I still consider myself new to the gardening world), and take care of my family.
I am passionate about adoption and just recently stepped down as the Families Supporting Adoption (FSA) Chairperson in our area. I still love to be involved, it was just time for someone else to be in charge. I love it though! I get to meet so many incredible people!
I feel like the luckiest girl alive. I have the most incredible hubby who loves to make me laugh and loves me no matter what. (It doesn’t hurt that he's super cute too). And I have two beautiful, healthy children who are the lights of my life!
