A little about my life…….

I am the second oldest of four children, I have an older brother and two younger sisters. During my youth I can only remember living in two houses and they were only around the corner from each other, in fact me and my siblings attended the same Junior High and High school as our parents. Growing up I was the little brother that followed his big brother and his friends around always wanting to be a part of the older kids. I would have to say that I am a mommy’s boy. One of my fondest memories of time I spent with my mother was when I would rub her feet at night. It seemed like after we were sent to bed I would get out of bed and sit down at my mother's feet and rub them and put her to sleep and I believe me to sleep too. My dad would always tell me to get back to bed but my mother would always tell him it was ok (She loved the foot rub). Growing up I learned a lot about life and the value of your word from my dad, he was an automobile mechanic and was always busy working on cars and helping others out. He is also a member of the volunteer fire department and is the Assistant Chief to this day. I learned about the value of good hard work and being committed to doing all that I can to see to my families needs. I know he worked his hardest so that us kids would have food on the table and clothes on our backs.

If I was to describe what type of kid I was (and still am) I would have to say that I was a dreamer. I was always off in another world saving it from evil monsters or some other danger. I loved to watch cartoons and play G.I. Joes, Star Wars, He-man and with many other toys. But my imagination wasn’t fully released until the Nintendo was released. Through gaming I was able to visualize what my dreams might have looked like. To this day Connor and I spend a lot of time together exploring new adventures.

As a kid I hated to read, no hate is too nice of a word I despised reading. I just never could get it and felt it was a waste of my time. My brother however loved to read and this irritated me because he and my parents could not see why I did not like to read. It wasn’t until I was 23 when I tagged along with my brother on one of his many trips to Barnes & Noble to get a book did I fall in love with reading. While we were there I got bored with waiting for my brother to get a book I found a book cover that caught my eye, I picked it up read the back cover and instantly was hooked to the story. Since then I am hardly ever without a book. And have come to find that books bring to life different worlds in ways that video games never can. I love to read and wish I would have found this love earlier in life.

Growing up I tried all sorts of different sports like basketball, baseball, football, and track. But for some reason I just never could get into them, I am guessing that it was because of my size. Here is an example of my size during my junior year of high school I was 4’9” and weighed about 95 lbs. This was a hard thing for me to deal with because my brother seemed to achieve six feet while he was in junior high. But my height did not stop me from standing up for myself, it didn’t matter how big the other guy was or popular they thought they were I would not let them take advantage of me.

When I turned 19, I decided to go on a mission; I was called to the Raleigh North Carolina Mission. These two years were the hardest most rewarding years of my life to that point. I was able to grow up a lot and realize what meant the most to me in my life. I found a deep love for my Savior and a desire to get out and work hard. I am very grateful for all that I learned while I was on my mission.
